Brazil 2016 Olympic Games

rio 2016 After a hard fought battle Rio de Janeiro and Brazil was awarded the 2016 Olympic Games by the IOC. A sentimental favourite as it will be the first time the Olympics will be held in South America, it is also an added feather in the cap of President Lula.

Although the Olympics will bring even more dramatic changes to the Rio property market it will have a ripple affect that will touch upon employment, industry, the service sector, wages and property prices across the entire country.

Ironically it was Patrick Sandusky, who led the unsuccessful Chicago challenge that gave the strongest message:

"No one lost the Olympic Games. Rio won it. At the end, the decision was to go somewhere the Olympics have never been. It was a mandate for a map — to go to South America."
